Drum Major Clinic
The Drum Major Clinic emphasizes leadership development through a variety of initiatives. Instruction in instrumental conducting, score study, marching technique, equipment usage, management theory, and performance evaluations contribute to building the skills and confidence necessary to serve as an effective leader.
Since 1983, graduates of the drum major clinic have gone on to lead and conduct hundreds of high school bands throughout the region, as well as the following college, drum corps, and military ensembles:

- Western Michigan University Bronco Marching Band
- Eastern Michigan University Marching Band
- Grand Valley State University Laker Marching Band
- Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps
- The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps
- Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps
- United States Coast Guard Academy Drum & Bugle Corps
Drum Majors develop skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Instrumental conducting and score study
- Leadership and management theory
- High step and / or stride marching
- Verbal and whistle commands
- Equipment work, including signal baton spinning
- Field placement and staging
